Also: this is a shift. For eons, wearing a medical device would be a hidden necessity, not a status signifier.
What changed? The body positivity movement prioritizing well-being, post-covid ZFG, Silicon Valley biohacking AND the Wellness Industrial Complex signaling “I’m worth it. And can afford it.” You pick. All of the above is a valid answer.
The debate is: Without a medical condition, Is this data useful? Meaningful? Could it be harmful by driving disordered eating or stress?

Allergy influencers are a thing on tiktiok, with both docs and everyday people talking about that allergy life. Beyond nut allergies, allergies have been a slow-bubbling trend in food, too (see: FODMAP).
