Great article. I had no idea about the TikTok filter plastic surgery. So wild and sad. Why do so many want to look the same??? And are big brands still falling into the influencer trap??? Even worse, are we?? Adults need to keep their feet rooted in reality on social as to protect our youth. If we can’t stay grounded in reality, how will they?? And aren’t we done with bigger is better yet in business?? So many brands have fallen in their greatness as a result of “scaling” 😫

Agreed, the plastic surgery phenomenon truly does create a new sort of same face that is straight out of a Twilight Zone or Black Mirror episode. Yet the crazy part of the "average" truism is people really do, on some level, want to look the same. It's just never been as possible as it is now.

And yes - Influencers are often the biggest stack of spend because of ROI. They move merch and get eyes. But so many work their heads off for very little return. The entire system is a conformity and anxiety machine. The power of Tiktok to drive it is really at another level.

Totally. It must be exhausting for all parties involved.
